Disease Areas

Disease is defined as a series of alterations, signs, and symptoms that manifest in a similar way in different individuals in response to a specific cause, allowing for classification and identification of disorders. Cancer is defined as a complex disease characterized by the uncontrollable division of body cells, which often results from cellular abnormalities due to gene mutations or the production of abnormal proteins. It represents a failure of cell cycle control and involves the spread of these abnormal cells to surrounding tissues. Immune diseases include multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), asthma, allergies, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). These are autoimmune diseases. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) defines a group of disorders, which affect the cardiac, cerebrovascular, or peripheral vascular systems of the body. Understanding disease classification is crucial for scientific research because it can standardize practices, facilitate communication, guide research directions, and advance precision medicine.
