Pesticide is a single substance or mixture that can be used to prevent, mitigate, iminate pests or as a plant conditioner, defoliant or desiccant. In recent years, scientists have proposed the concept of "Molecules to Ecosystems", bringing the concept of molecular biology to understand the impact of pesticides, degradation and relationship with the environment or organisms. MCE integrates effective compounds approved as pesticides by agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and some insecticidal compounds with potential for agricultural applications.

MCE can provide a library of 304 pesticide compounds that are tool compounds for relevant research.

The composition of endogenous metabolite compounds is affected by the upstream influence of the proteome and genome as well as environmental factors, lifestyle factors, medication, and underlying disease. Therefore, metabolites have been described as proximal reporters of disease because their abundances in biological specimens are often directly related to pathogenic mechanisms. In more recent years, metabolomics approach has been adopted or suggested to be used in various research areas including drug discovery, neurosciences, agriculture, food and nutrition, and environmental sciences.

MCE owns a unique collection of 883 human endogenous metabolites, all of which are derived from human issues. This library is a powerful tool for metabonomics research and metabolism-related drug discovery.

Unlike the 20 natural amino acids commonly found within living organisms, non-natural amino acids are synthesized through chemical or biosynthetic methods, thereby being endowed with unique chemical properties or biological activities. In drug development, these amino acids can be utilized to design novel pharmaceutical molecules that may exhibit superior pharmacological characteristics, such as increased selectivity, improved pharmacokinetic profiles, or reduced toxicity. In biomedical research, uon-natural amino acids can act as biological markers or probes for investigating biological processes like cell signaling, protein conformation, and protein-protein interactions. In addition, non-natural amino acids can also be used in the field of agriculture to develop new pesticides, plant growth regulators and so on.

Natural products (NPs) are a class of widely bioactive compounds that have been shown to have a variety of uses, including pharmaceutical, agricultural, industrial and other fields. Historically, natural products have played a key role in drug discovery, particularly for cancer and infectious diseases, but also in other therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular disease (e.g., statins) and multiple sclerosis (e.g., Fingolimod). Compared to traditional synthetic molecules, natural products have special structure and function, which brings advantages and challenges to the drug discovery process. Compared to synthetic compounds, natural products have higher skeleton diversity, structural complexity, and generally have higher molecular mass, more sp3 carbon atoms and oxygen atoms, more hydrogen bond acceptors and donors, and so on. Overall, natural product libraries cover a broader chemical space than typical synthetic small molecules.

MCE provides a unique collection of 4,661 natural compounds that contain Saccharides and Glycosides, Phenylpropanoids, Quinones, Flavonoids, Terpenoids and Glycosides, Steroids, Alkaloid, Phenols, Acids and Aldehydes. Natural Product Library is a useful tool for drug discovery that can be used for high-throughput screening (HTS) and high-content screening (HCS).
