Handling Instructions Technical Support

Coenzyme Q8 (Ubiquinone 8) is an isoprenoid quinone that mediates electron transfer within the aerobic respiratory chain and reduces oxidative stress. Coenzyme Q8 maintains bacterial respiratory function and enhances host resistance to bacterial infection. Coenzyme Q8 stimulates macrophage phagocytosis and increases antibody-producing cells. Coenzyme Q8 can be used in infectious disease research.

Description

Coenzyme Q8 (Ubiquinone 8) is an isoprenoid quinone that mediates electron transfer within the aerobic respiratory chain and reduces oxidative stress. Coenzyme Q8 maintains bacterial respiratory function and enhances host resistance to bacterial infection. Coenzyme Q8 stimulates macrophage phagocytosis and increases antibody-producing cells. Coenzyme Q8 can be used in infectious disease research[1][2].

In Vitro

Coenzyme Q8 (2 h) enhances phagocytosis of sheep erythrocytes by peritoneal macrophages from normal animals[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Coenzyme Q8 (25 mg/kg; i.v.) provides complete protection against otherwise lethal infections with gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria in female NMRI mice, enhances bacterial clearance from blood, stimulates macrophage phagocytosis and increases antibody-producing cells in spleens[2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
