  3. Astin C

Astin C (Asterin) is a cyclopeptide that can be extracted from Aster tataricus. Astin C has anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities. Astin C can specifically inhibit the cGAS-STING signaling pathway, block the recruitment of IRF3 to the STING signalosome, and thus inhibit the innate inflammatory response. Astin C can be used in the research of autoimmune diseases and cancers.

Description

Astin C (Asterin) is a cyclopeptide that can be extracted from Aster tataricus. Astin C has anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities. Astin C can specifically inhibit the cGAS-STING signaling pathway, block the recruitment of IRF3 to the STING signalosome, and thus inhibit the innate inflammatory response. Astin C can be used in the research of autoimmune diseases and cancers[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Astin C (10 μM; 6 h) significantly inhibits the expression of Ifnb mRNA induced by cGAS or STING in HEK293 cells[1].
Astin C (10 μM; 6 h) significantly impaires the interactions between STING and IRF3, as well as between STING and SCAP, and inhibits the aggregation of SCAP and IRF3 in HEK293T cells and MEFs[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Real Time qPCR[1]

Cell Line: HEK293 treated cGAS or STING
Concentration: 10 μM
Incubation Time: 6 h
Result: Inhibited the mRNA level of Ifnb.
In Vivo

Astin C (2-4 mg/kg; tail vein injection; once every 2 days; 7 days) can make C57BL/6 mice more susceptible to HSV-1 infection. Additionally, in the autoimmune disease model of Trex1-/- mice, it exhibits anti-inflammatory activity[1].
Astin C (5.0 mg/kg; intraperitoneal injection; 5 days) achieves a tumor growth inhibition rate of 45% in male ICR mice inoculated with Sarcoma 180 ascites tumor[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Trex1-/- mice[1]
Dosage: 2 and 4 mg/kg
Administration: Tail vein injection; once every 2 days; 7 days
Result: Inhibited the expression of type I interferon and pro-inflammatory cytokines in Trex1-/- BMDMs.
Alleviated autoimmune inflammatory symptoms, decreased the abundance of sera autoantibodies, and reduced the percentage of activated CD8+ T cells in the spleen.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
