Background

TBCK is a component of the FERRY complex (Five-subunit Endosomal Rab5 and RNA/ribosome intermediary). The FERRY complex directly interacts with mRNAs and RAB5A, functioning as a RAB5A effector involved in the localization and distribution of specific mRNAs, likely by mediating their endosomal transport. It recruits mRNAs and ribosomes to early endosomes through direct mRNA interaction. Additionally, TBCK modulates mTOR signaling and the expression of mTOR complex components, and plays a role in controlling actin-cytoskeleton organization. by similar: The complex is associated with mRNA transport and mTOR signaling regulation.
