Rab27A is a Small GTPase that cycles between active GTP-bound and inactive GDP-bound states. In its active form, it binds to various effector proteins to regulate homeostasis of the late endocytic pathway, including endosomal positioning, maturation, and secretion. It plays a role in cytotoxic granule exocytosis in lymphocytes and is essential for both granule maturation and granule docking and priming at the immunologic synapse.
