IL-15R alpha Protein, a proven high-affinity receptor for interleukin-15, signals in both cis and trans. In neutrophils, it activates SYK kinase, crucial for IL-15-induced phagocytosis in a SYK-dependent manner. Different isoforms may introduce variations in signal transduction. Notably, IL-15R alpha Protein, while having high affinity, does not directly bind to IL15. IL-15R alpha Protein, Human (HEK293, Fc) is the recombinant human-derived IL-15R alpha protein, expressed by HEK293, with C-hFc labeled tag.

Description

Background

IL-15R alpha Protein stands out as a high-affinity receptor for interleukin-15, as evidenced by studies. This receptor exhibits the remarkable capability to signal both in cis and trans, where IL15R from one subset of cells presents interleukin-15 to neighboring IL2RG-expressing cells (By similarity). Notably, in neutrophils, IL-15R alpha Protein binds to and activates the kinase SYK in response to interleukin-15 stimulation, playing a critical role in IL-15-induced phagocytosis in a SYK-dependent manner. It's important to note that the expression of different isoforms may introduce variations or interference with signal transduction processes. Despite its high affinity for interleukin-15, it is specified that IL-15R alpha Protein does not directly bind to IL15.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS or 5% Trehalose).

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
