1. Metabolic Enzyme/Protease NF-κB Immunology/Inflammation
  2. Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) Endogenous Metabolite
  3. Argininosuccinic acid disodium

Argininosuccinic acid disodium is an intermediate metabolite in the urea cycle, and its level is associated with argininosuccinic aciduria. Argininosuccinic acid disodium can induce oxidative stress, leading to lipid and protein oxidation, reduction of glutathione, and decrease in antioxidant enzyme activity. Argininosuccinic acid disodium can be converted into guanidinosuccinic acid, a nitric oxide mimic, under the action of nitric oxide-derived free radicals. Argininosuccinic acid disodium can be used in the research of metabolic diseases, renal failure, nervous system diseases, etc.

Description

Argininosuccinic acid disodium is an intermediate metabolite in the urea cycle, and its level is associated with argininosuccinic aciduria. Argininosuccinic acid disodium can induce oxidative stress, leading to lipid and protein oxidation, reduction of glutathione, and decrease in antioxidant enzyme activity. Argininosuccinic acid disodium can be used in the research of metabolic diseases, renal failure, nervous system diseases, etc[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Argininosuccinic acid (250-1000 μM; 1 h) disodium can reduce the concentration of reduced glutathione (GSH) and sulfhydryl content, increase the levels of malondialdehyde and carbonyl formation, induce protein oxidative damage, and promote the production of ROS in the cerebral cortex and striatum of rats in vitro[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Argininosuccinic acid (2 μM in 2 μL; intrastriatal administration; single dose) disodium significantly induces oxidative stress in 30-day-old rats[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: 30-day-old male Wistar rats[1]
Dosage: 2 μL of a 1.0 M concentration (2 μM in 2 μL)
Administration: Intrastriatal administration; single dose
Result: Significantly induced lipid oxidation (MDA levels) and protein oxidation (carbonyl formation), increased ROS and RNS generation (DCFH oxidation).
Significantly decreased GSH concentrations.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
