Background	Nephrin appears to play a role in the development or function of the kidney glomerular filtration barrier. It regulates glomerular vascular permeability and may anchor the podocyte slit diaphragm to the actin cytoskeleton. Additionally, Nephrin is involved in skeletal muscle formation through the regulation of myoblast fusion (By similarity).
