This factor regulates key transcription factors during embryonic development, playing critical roles in maintaining embryonic stem cells and suppressing their differentiation. GKLF is essential for establishing skin barrier function, postnatal ocular surface maturation/maintenance, epithelial cell differentiation, and potentially skeletal/kidney development.
