CD163L1 gene encodes a protein that belongs to the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) superfamily. Members of this family are secreted or membrane-anchored proteins found primarily in cells associated with the immune system. The SRCR family is defined by a 100-110 amino acid SRCR domain that likely mediates protein-protein interactions and ligand binding. CD163L1 is a scavenger receptor that is primarily found in macrophages and plays a role in immune responses and tissue homeostasis. CD163L1 is also known as CD163 molecule-like 1 or M160. The encoded protein contains 12 SRCR domains, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
