Antibiofilm agent-17 is a dual-action biofilm inhibitor against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (IC50 = 0.33 μM). Antibiofilm agent-17 inhibits biofilm growth by reducing quorum sensing-mediated virulence production and iron ion acquisition. Antibiofilm agent-17 exhibits synergistic antimicrobial effects in a mouse wound infection model. Antibiofilm agent-17 can be used in research on combating Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections.

Description

Antibiofilm agent-17 is a dual-action biofilm inhibitor against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (IC50 = 0.33 μM). Antibiofilm agent-17 inhibits biofilm growth by reducing quorum sensing-mediated virulence production and iron ion acquisition. Antibiofilm agent-17 exhibits synergistic antimicrobial effects in a mouse wound infection model. Antibiofilm agent-17 can be used in research on combating Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections[1].

In Vitro

Antibiofilm agent-17 (Compound 19I) (0.0625-1 μM, 24 h) reduces green fluorescent dye (SYTO-9) and inhibits biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 with an inhibition rate of up to 69.49% at 1 μM without affecting bacterial growth[1].
Antibiofilm agent-17 inhibits biofilm formation of PA0617, PA1065, PA1121, and PA1167[1].
Antibiofilm agent-17 (0.0625-1 μM) inhibits the las and the pqs system on the virulence production to exert antibiofilm and antivirulence effects, reduces the synthesis of elastase and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) in P. aeruginosa PAO1[1].
Antibiofilm agent-17 (0.0625-1 μM) interferes with biofilm colonization by inhibiting swarming and swimming motility as well as the quorum sensing (QS) system in P. aeruginosa PAO1[1].
Antibiofilm agent-17 (0.0625-1 μM) increases the production of Pvd and Pch, causing bacterial iron deficiency to inhibit biofilm formation in P. aeruginosa PAO1[1].
Antibiofilm agent-17 (0.0625-1 μM, 24 h) does not affect biofilm formation in ΔpvdS and fpvA-Overexpressing Strains in P. aeruginosa PAO1[1].
Antibiofilm agent-17 (2.5-200 μM, 24 h) has no toxicity against mice and rabbits erythrocytes, RAW264.7 cells, HepG2 cells, G. mellonella[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Antibiofilm agent-17 (Compound 19I) (12.5-200 μM, 0-120 h) does not affect the survival rate of zebrafish larvae[1].
Antibiofilm agent-17 (1 μM) improves the survival rate that treated with Tobramycin (HY-B0441), Ciprofloxacin (HY-B0356), Meropenem (HY-13678) and Polymyxin B (Polymyxin B) in G. mellonella larvae infected with P. aeruginosa PAO1[1].
Antibiofilm agent-17 (1 μM, wound medication, once a day, 3 days) accelerates wound healing when used in combination with Tobramycin and Ciprofloxacin in mice model of wound infection[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Mice (Female BALB/c mice, 4 week-old) model of wound infection with P. aeruginosa PAO1(5 × 108) [1]
Dosage: 1 μM+ Tobramycin (0.0025 mg/mL)/ Ciprofloxacin (0.002 mg/mL)
Administration: wound medication,once a day, 3 days
Result: Increased the antibacterial activity of CIP by 500-1000 times and Tob by 200 times.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
