AMP-PNP (Adenylyl imidodiphosphate) is a non-hydrolyzable ATP analog. AMP-PNP binds to ATP binding sites competely but is not hydrolyzed by enzymes, providing stable experimental conditions for studying ATP-dependent processes. AMP-PNP can also be used to study enzyme activity, kinase regulation, DNA/RNA metabolism, ion channel function, and protein complex assembly.

The free form of the compound is prone to instability, it is advisable to consider the stable salt form (AMP-PNP lithium hydrate) that retains the same biological activity.

Description

AMP-PNP (Adenylyl imidodiphosphate) is a non-hydrolyzable ATP analog. AMP-PNP binds to ATP binding sites competely but is not hydrolyzed by enzymes, providing stable experimental conditions for studying ATP-dependent processes. AMP-PNP can also be used to study enzyme activity, kinase regulation, DNA/RNA metabolism, ion channel function, and protein complex assembly[1][2][3][4].

In Vitro

AMP-PNP (100 nM-3.3 mM) competitively elutes BtuCD(EQNC)-F from ATP-agarose beads, inhibiting the ATPase activity of both wild-type and mutant BtuCD-F[1].
AMP-PNP (1.9-2 mM, 0-15 min) fails to inhibit the ATP-dependent scanning process of the 5' leader sequence of eukaryotic mRNA[2].
AMP-PNP (1 μM-1 mM) concentration-dependently blocked the single ATP-sensitive potassium channels (KATP channels) in the skeletal muscles of mice[4].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
