Handling Instructions Technical Support

3′-Oxolutein, a metabolite of dietary lutein, is an anti-inflammatory agent and antioxidant, 3′-Oxolutein mitigates the effects of glutamate-induced ROS production and proinflammatory cytokine secretions in SH-SY5Y cells. 3'-Oxolutein reduces glutamate-induced iron content and increases thiol levels. 3′-Oxolutein can be used for the study of inflammation.

Description

3′-Oxolutein, a metabolite of dietary lutein, is an anti-inflammatory agent and antioxidant, 3′-Oxolutein mitigates the effects of glutamate-induced ROS production and proinflammatory cytokine secretions in SH-SY5Y cells. 3'-Oxolutein reduces glutamate-induced iron content and increases thiol levels. 3′-Oxolutein can be used for the study of inflammation[1].

In Vitro

3'-Oxolutein (10 ng/μL, 10-30 min) significantly reduces glutamate-induced ROS production in SH-SY5Y cells[1].
3'-Oxolutein (10 ng/μL, 24-72 h) increases small molecule antioxidants level at 48 h but fails to modify TAC levels in glutamate-treated SH-SY5Y cells[1].
3'-Oxolutein (10 ng/μL, 24-72 h) alone does not alter SOD activity and cannot inhibit the decrease in SOD in glutamate-treated SH-SY5Y cells[1].
3'-Oxolutein (10 ng/μL, 24-72 h) reduces glutamate-induced iron content in SH-SY5Y cells[1].
3'-Oxolutein (10 ng/μL, 24-72 h) reduces glutamate-induced relative mRNA expressions of ALOX5, ALOX15, and ACSL4 genes in SH-SY5Y cells[1].
3'-Oxolutein (10 ng/μL, 24-72 h) significantly increases thiol levels after 48 and 72 h [1].
3'-Oxolutein (10 ng/μL, 24-72 h) does not induce alteration in IL-6 secretion in SH-SY5Y cells but reduces glutamate-induced IL-8 secretions and diminishes TNFα levels[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
