Technical Support

Tilavonemab (ABBV-8E12) is a humanized anti-tau monoclonal antibody that binds to amino acids 25-30 near the N-terminus of the tau protein. Tilavonemab can block the ability of human and mouse neurons to uptake tau aggregates. Tilavonemab can be used for research on Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies.

In Vivo

In human-tau transgenic mouse models, delivery of Tilavonemab into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) or the peritoneum reduces levels of insoluble tau and attenuates brain atrophy. CSF delivery also rescues behavioral deficits in associative learning tasks[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
