Zaire ebolavirus VP30 Protein (His)

Zaire ebolavirus VP30 Protein (His) is the recombinant virus-derived Zaire ebolavirus VP30 protein, expressed by E. coli, with N-6*His tag.

Zaire ebolavirus VP30 is a multifunctional protein that acts as a viral transcriptional activator. It promotes read-through of an RNA hairpin in the NP open reading frame to enhance viral transcription. Mechanistically, nonphosphorylated VP30 hexamers form a ternary complex with the viral leader RNA, clamping the RNA template and the VP35-polymerase L complex together, thereby increasing the polymerase affinity for the RNA template to boost transcription initiation despite RNA secondary structures. Additionally, VP30 assists stop-start transcription at gene junctions to promote downstream gene transcription (by similar). Interaction with NP plays a critical role in transcription initiation by recognizing the RNA stem loop (by similar). Interaction with host RBBP6 disrupts NP-VP30 binding and inhibits viral RNA synthesis. VP30 also suppresses RNA silencing by interacting with host DICER1 and TARBP2/TRBP.
