Description

Vpr Protein, HIV-1 group M subtype C (His, Myc) is the recombinant virus-derived Vpr protein, expressed by E. coli, with N-10*His & C-Myc tag.

Background

Vpr is a protein that may deplete host UNG protein and induce G2-M cell cycle arrest during virus replication. It targets specific host proteins for degradation by the 26S proteasome through association with the cellular CUL4A-DDB1 E3 ligase complex by direct interaction with host VPRPB/DCAF-1. Cell cycle arrest reportedly occurs within hours of infection and is not blocked by antiviral agents, suggesting it is initiated by Vpr carried into the virion. Additionally, Vpr induces apoptosis in a cell cycle-dependent manner, indicating these two effects are mechanistically linked. Detected in the serum and cerebrospinal fluid of AIDS patients, Vpr may also induce bystander cell death.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
