Description

TXNIP Protein, Human (His, B2M) is the recombinant human-derived TXNIP protein, expressed by E. coli, with N-6*His & N-B2M tag.

Background

TXNIP acts as an oxidative stress mediator by inhibiting thioredoxin activity or limiting its bioavailability. It interacts with COPS5 and restores COPS5-induced suppression of CDKN1B stability, blocking the COPS5-mediated translocation of CDKN1B from the nucleus to the cytoplasm (By similarity). TXNIP functions as a transcriptional repressor, possibly by bridging transcription factors and corepressor complexes, and its overexpression induces G0/G1 cell cycle arrest. It is also required for the maturation of natural killer cells (By similarity) and acts as a suppressor of tumor cell growth. Additionally, TXNIP inhibits the proteasomal degradation of DDIT4, thereby contributing to the inhibition of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
