Description

TERT Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived TERT protein, expressed by E. coli, with N-6*His tag.

Background

TERT is the catalytic subunit of telomerase, a ribonucleoprotein enzyme critical for chromosome end replication in most eukaryotes. It is active in progenitor and cancer cells but exhibits minimal or no activity in normal somatic cells. As the core component of the telomerase holoenzyme complex, TERT elongates telomeres by functioning as a reverse transcriptase that adds TTAGGG repeats to chromosomal termini using an internal RNA template. Its catalytic cycle involves primer binding, extension, and product release upon reaching template boundaries. TERT shows higher activity on substrates containing 2-3 telomeric repeats, with regulation mediated by associated proteins, chaperones, and post-translational modifications. It also modulates Wnt signaling and plays pivotal roles in aging and antiapoptosis processes.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
