Background

TCEB3, also referred to as SIII, functions as a general transcription elongation factor, facilitating RNA polymerase II transcription elongation beyond template-encoded arresting sites. The transcriptional activity of subunit A is significantly boosted by its interaction with the dimeric complex formed by the SIII regulatory subunits B and C, collectively known as the elongin BC complex. TCEB3 operates within a multisubunit assembly, including elongin BC complex (ELOB and ELOC), elongin A/ELOA, RBX1, and CUL5. In this context, it polyubiquitinates monoubiquitinated POLR2A, contributing to the regulation of transcriptional processes.
