Syndecan-1/CD138 Protein, a cell surface proteoglycan, connects the cytoskeleton to the interstitial matrix with heparan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate. It regulates exosome biogenesis with SDCBP and PDCD6IP. Syndecan-1/CD138 Protein induces its own expression through an MSX1 pathway in dental cells and interacts with CDCP1 and TIAM1. It also interacts with MDK, participating in diverse cellular processes. Syndecan-1/CD138 Protein is a cell surface proteoglycan characterized by the presence of both heparan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate, establishing a link between the cytoskeleton and the interstitial matrix. It plays a role in regulating exosome biogenesis in collaboration with SDCBP and PDCD6IP. Moreover, Syndecan-1/CD138 has the capacity to induce its own expression in dental mesenchymal cells and neighboring dental epithelial cells through an MSX1-mediated pathway.
