Description

QPRTase Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived QPRTase protein, expressed by E. coli, with N-6*His labeled tag.

Background

QPRT is a key enzyme encoding the catabolism of quinoline, which is an intermediate of the tryptophane-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide pathway and is one of the most effective endogenous exotoxins against neurons. Elevated levels of quinoline in the brain have been linked to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases such as epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's disease. QPRT may affect the occurrence and progression of breast cancer through activation of PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, Wnt signaling pathway and cell cycle-related molecules. QPRT may play an important role in the pathogenesis of ASD in Chr16p11.2 deficient carriers. Reducing QPRT expression in gliomas reverses drug resistance in cells. The high expression of QPRT in follicular thyroid cancer can be used as a new screening marker[1][2][3][4].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
