Description

EGR2 Protein, Human (His, Strep) is the recombinant human-derived EGR2, expressed by E. coli , with Strep, His labeled tag.

Background

EGR2 is a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor involved in hindbrain segmentation and Schwann cell myelination. It regulates the expression of a subset of homeobox-containing genes (e.g., HOXA4, HOXB3, and HOXB2) to specify odd and even rhombomeres in the hindbrain (By similarity). EGR2 binds to two EGR2-consensus sites, EGR2A (5'-CTGTAGGAG-3') and EGR2B (5'-ATGTAGGTG-3'), in the HOXB3 enhancer to promote HOXB3 transcriptional activation (By similarity). It also binds specific DNA sites in the promoter regions of HOXA4, HOXB2, and ERBB2 (By similarity). In the peripheral nervous system, EGR2 regulates myelination by controlling the expression of myelin proteins (e.g., MPZ) and promoting Schwann cell differentiation (By similarity). Additionally, EGR2 may play a role in the innervation of jaw-opening musculature via trigeminal motor neurons (By similarity) and potentially in adipogenesis by regulating CEBPB expression (By similarity). EGR2 also functions as an E3 SUMO-protein ligase, facilitating SUMO1 conjugation to its coregulators NAB1 and NAB2, whose sumoylation downregulates EGR2 transcriptional activity.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
