CD24 Protein, Human (HEK293, His, Ferritin)

Cat. No.: HY-P704455
Handling Instructions Technical Support

The CD24 protein plays a critical role in cellular differentiation in various cell types, and its signaling may be initiated by lectin-like ligands that bind to the CD24 carbohydrate and transduced by second messengers released from GPI anchors. CD24 also regulates B cell activation responses, promoting AG-dependent B cell proliferation and preventing terminal differentiation into antibody-forming cells. CD24 Protein, Human (HEK293, His, Ferritin) is the recombinant human-derived CD24 protein, expressed by HEK293, with N-His labeled tag.

Description

The CD24 protein plays a critical role in cellular differentiation in various cell types, and its signaling may be initiated by lectin-like ligands that bind to the CD24 carbohydrate and transduced by second messengers released from GPI anchors. CD24 also regulates B cell activation responses, promoting AG-dependent B cell proliferation and preventing terminal differentiation into antibody-forming cells. CD24 Protein, Human (HEK293, His, Ferritin) is the recombinant human-derived CD24 protein, expressed by HEK293, with N-His labeled tag.

Background

The CD24 protein is implicated in playing a pivotal role in the cell differentiation of various cell types, with its signaling potentially triggered by the binding of a lectin-like ligand to CD24 carbohydrates, transduced through the release of second messengers derived from the GPI-anchor. CD24 also functions in modulating B-cell activation responses, promoting AG-dependent proliferation of B-cells, and preventing their terminal differentiation into antibody-forming cells. In association with SIGLEC10, CD24 may contribute to the selective suppression of the immune response to danger-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) such as HMGB1, HSP70, and HSP90, suggesting a role in immune regulation. Additionally, CD24 is implicated in the control of autoimmunity. It exhibits cell-type-specific interactions with LYN and FGR, binding to FRG in a small cell cancer line, LYN in the erythroleukemia cell line K-562, and in Burkitt's lymphoma, highlighting its diverse involvement in cellular processes and immune regulation.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS or 5% Trehalose).

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Shipping

Room temperature in continental US; may vary elsewhere.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
