Description

Carboxylesterase 1 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is an approximately 60.0 kDa human carboxylesterase 1 protein with a His-flag. Human Carboxylesterase 1 is the key liver microsomal enzyme that takes part in detoxification and metabolism[1]

Background

Carboxylesterases are a family of enzymes that act on a variety of both exogenous (e.g. cocaine) and endogenous (e.g. acyl-CoA esters) substrates. Carboxylesterases are encoded by carboxylesterase (CES or Ces) genes[1].
Carboxylesterase are defined to hydrolyze ester, amide, or thioester bonds to their corresponding alcohol, amine or thiol and free acid. Human Carboxylesterase 1 (hCES1) is the key liver microsomal enzyme responsible for detoxification and metabolism of a variety of agents[1]

Biological Activity

Measured by its ability to hydrolyze p-nitrophenylacetate that incubate at room temperature in kinetic mode for 5 minutes. The specific activity is 10374.757 pmol/min/µg.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
