Description

Carboxylesterase 1 Protein, Human (549a.a, HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Carboxylesterase 1 protein, expressed by HEK293, with C-His tag.

Background

Carboxylesterase 1 is an enzyme involved in the detoxification of xenobiotics and the activation of ester and amide prodrugs. It hydrolyzes aromatic and aliphatic esters but exhibits no catalytic activity toward amides or fatty acyl-CoA esters. This enzyme hydrolyzes the methyl ester group of cocaine to form benzoylecgonine and catalyzes the transesterification of cocaine to produce cocaethylene. Additionally, Carboxylesterase 1 demonstrates fatty acid ethyl ester synthase activity, esterifying oleic acid to form ethyloleate, and hydrolyzes monoacylglycerides into free fatty acids and glycerol. It also hydrolyzes 2-arachidonoylglycerol and prostaglandins, and converts cellular cholesteryl esters to free cholesterol, promoting reverse cholesterol transport (RCT). Specifically, it facilitates free cholesterol efflux from macrophages to extracellular acceptors and releases free cholesterol from lipoprotein-delivered cholesteryl esters in the liver for bile acid synthesis or direct secretion into bile. by similar: Its functions also include critical roles in cholesterol metabolism and drug metabolism pathways.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
