The B7-2/CD86 protein is a key receptor that provides costimulatory signals critical for T lymphocyte proliferation and interleukin-2 production through CD28 or CTLA-4 binding. It plays a decisive role in early T cell activation, affecting immunity or anergy within 24 hours. B7-2/CD86 Protein, Rabbit (HEK293, His) is the recombinant Rabbit-derived B7-2/CD86 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-6*His labeled tag.

Description

The B7-2/CD86 protein is a key receptor that provides costimulatory signals critical for T lymphocyte proliferation and interleukin-2 production through CD28 or CTLA-4 binding. It plays a decisive role in early T cell activation, affecting immunity or anergy within 24 hours. B7-2/CD86 Protein, Rabbit (HEK293, His) is the recombinant Rabbit-derived B7-2/CD86 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-6*His labeled tag.

Background

B7-2/CD86 Protein functions as a receptor pivotal for the costimulatory signal necessary for T-lymphocyte proliferation and interleukin-2 production, achieved by binding to CD28 or CTLA-4. It plays a crucial role in the early events of T-cell activation and costimulation of naive T-cells, contributing to the decision between immunity and anergy within 24 hours after activation. Additionally, B7-2/CD86 participates in the regulation of B cell function, influencing the level of IgG(1) produced. Upon CD40 engagement, it activates the NF-kappa-B signaling pathway through phospholipase C and protein kinase C activation. The protein forms homodimers and interacts with MARCH8. Furthermore, it engages with PHB1 and PHB2, with the interactions intensifying after priming with CD40.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS or 5% Trehalose).

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Shipping

Room temperature in continental US; may vary elsewhere.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
