UCP1 Antibody (YA6285) is a rabbit-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to UCP1. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P, ICC/IF, IP, ELISA assays, in the background of mouse, rat.

UCP1 is a mitochondrial protein primarily responsible for thermogenic respiration, a specialized function of brown adipose tissue and beige fat that contributes to non-shivering adaptive thermogenesis in response to temperature and dietary variations, and more broadly regulates energy balance (By similarity). It functions as a long-chain fatty acid (LCFA) and proton symporter, simultaneously transporting one LCFA and one proton across the inner mitochondrial membrane. However, because LCFAs remain associated with the transporter via their hydrophobic tails, this results in apparent LCFA-activated proton transport. Consequently, it dissipates the mitochondrial proton gradient and converts the energy from substrate oxidation into heat instead of ATP. Additionally, it regulates mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) production (By similarity).
