Description

SMARCC1 Antibody (YA5256) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to SMARCC1. It can be applicated for WB assays, in the background of human.

Background

SMARCC1 is involved in transcriptional activation and repression of select genes through chromatin remodeling (alteration of DNA-nucleosome topology). It is a component of SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complexes, which carry out key enzymatic activities by altering DNA-histone contacts within nucleosomes in an ATP-dependent manner. SMARCC1 may stimulate the ATPase activity of the complex's catalytic subunit. It belongs to the neural progenitor-specific chromatin remodeling complex (npBAF complex) and the neuron-specific chromatin remodeling complex (nBAF complex). During neural development, a transition occurs from a stem/progenitor chromatin remodeling mechanism to a postmitotic mechanism as neurons exit the cell cycle and mature. This transition involves a switch in subunit composition between npBAF and nBAF complexes: as neural progenitors differentiate into neurons, ACTL6A/BAF53A and PHF10/BAF45A in npBAF complexes are replaced by homologous alternative subunits ACTL6B/BAF53B and either DPF1/BAF45B or DPF3/BAF45C in neuron-specific nBAF complexes. The npBAF complex is essential for the self-renewal and proliferative capacity of multipotent neural stem cells (by similar). The nBAF complex, along with CREST, regulates the activity of genes critical for dendrite growth.
