Description

SLUG Antibody (YA5060) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to SLUG. It can be applicated for WB, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

SLUG is a transcriptional repressor that modulates both activator-dependent and basal transcription. It is involved in the generation and migration of neural crest cells and plays a role in RAF1-induced transcriptional repression of the TJ protein occludin (OCLN) and subsequent oncogenic transformation of epithelial cells (by similar). In breast cells, SLUG represses BRCA2 expression by binding to its E2-box-containing silencer and recruiting CTBP1 and HDAC1. In epidermal keratinocytes, SLUG binds to the E-box in the ITGA3 promoter and represses its transcription, while also regulating ITGB1 and ITGB4 expression, cell adhesion, and proliferation. In hepatocytes, SLUG binds to the E-box2 domain of BSG and activates its expression during TGFB1-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Additionally, SLUG represses E-Cadherin/CDH1 transcription via E-box elements and is involved in osteoblast maturation. It binds to RUNX2 and SOC9 promoters, potentially acting as a positive and negative transcription regulator, respectively, in osteoblasts. In mesenchymal stem cells and osteoblasts, SLUG binds to the CXCL12 promoter via E-box regions. SLUG plays an essential role in TWIST1-induced EMT and its ability to promote invasion and metastasis.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
