Description

PEG10 Antibody (YA5142) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to PEG10. It can be applicated for WB assays, in the background of human, mouse, pig, rabbit.

Background

PEG10 is a retrotransposon-derived protein that binds its own mRNA and self-assembles into virion-like capsids. It forms virion-like extracellular vesicles that encapsulate its own mRNA and are released from cells, enabling intercellular transfer of PEG10 mRNA. The protein binds its own mRNA in the 5'-UTR region, near the boundary between the nucleocapsid (NC) and protease (PRO) coding sequences, and at the beginning of the 3'-UTR region. PEG10 is involved in placenta formation (by similar) and is required for trophoblast stem cell differentiation. It also plays a role in the immediate early stage of adipocyte differentiation (by similar). Overexpressed in many cancers, PEG10 enhances tumor progression by promoting cell proliferation through driving cell cycle progression from G0/G1 phase. It further supports cancer progression by inhibiting the TGF-beta signaling pathway, potentially via interaction with the TGF-beta receptor ACVRL1. PEG10 may bind to the 5'-GCCTGTCTTT-3' DNA sequence in the myelin basic protein (MBP) promoter's MB1 domain, though additional evidence is needed to confirm this (by similar).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
