Description

HP1-γ Antibody (YA5185) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to HP1-γ. It can be applicated for WB, ICC/IF, IP, IHC-P assays, in the background of mouse, human, monkey, hamster, rat.

Background

HP1γ is a protein involved in transcriptional silencing within heterochromatin-like complexes. It recognizes and binds to histone H3 tails methylated at Lys-9, leading to epigenetic repression. Through its interaction with the lamin B receptor (LBR), HP1γ may facilitate the association of heterochromatin with the inner nuclear membrane. Additionally, it participates in the formation of functional kinetochores via interaction with MIS12 complex proteins. HP1γ contributes to the conversion of local chromatin into a heterochromatin-like repressive state by promoting H3 Lys-9 trimethylation and recruits the methyltransferases SUV39H1 and/or SUV39H2 to the E-box elements of circadian target genes (e.g., PER2 or PER1) through the PER complex. It also mediates the recruitment of NIPBL to double-strand break (DSB) damage sites.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
