GLUL Antibody (YA3804)

GLUL Antibody (YA3804) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to GLUL. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P, ICC/IF, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human, mouse.

GLUL is a glutamine synthetase that catalyzes the ATP-dependent conversion of glutamate and ammonia to glutamine. Its role varies by tissue localization: in the brain, it regulates toxic ammonia levels and converts neurotoxic glutamate to harmless glutamine, while in the liver, it is involved in ammonia removal (By similarity). During erythropoiesis, GLUL plays a key role in ammonium detoxification by clearing ammonium generated by porphobilinogen deaminase (HMBS) during heme biosynthesis to prevent accumulation and oxidative stress (By similarity). It is essential for fetal skin fibroblast proliferation. Independently of its glutamine synthetase activity, GLUL regulates endothelial cell migration during vascular development by controlling membrane localization and activation of the GTPase RHOJ, possibly via promoting RHOJ palmitoylation. It may act as a palmitoyltransferase for RHOJ, capable of autopalmitoylation and transferring the palmitoyl group to RHOJ. GLUL also contributes to ribosomal 40S subunit biogenesis and modulates BEST2 channel activity: inhibiting BEST2 opening in the absence of intracellular L-glutamate but sensitizing BEST2 to L-glutamate, which promotes its opening and relieves inhibition.
