Description

DNA Ligase IV Antibody (YA2699) is a non-conjugated IgG antibody, targeting DNA Ligase IV, with a predicted molecular weight of 104 kDa (observed band size: 104 kDa). DNA Ligase IV Antibody (YA2699) can be used for WB experiment in human background.

Background

DNA Ligase IV is a DNA ligase involved in DNA non-homologous end joining (NHEJ), playing a critical role in double-strand break (DSB) repair and V(D)J recombination. It catalyzes the NHEJ ligation step of DSB repair by resealing DNA breaks and can join single-strand breaks in double-stranded polydeoxynucleotides in an ATP-dependent reaction. LIG4 exhibits mechanistic flexibility: it can ligate nicks and compatible DNA overhangs alone, while in the presence of XRCC4, it can ligate ends with 2-nucleotide (nt) microhomology and 1-nt gaps. LIG4 forms a subcomplex with XRCC4; the LIG4-XRCC4 subcomplex is responsible for the NHEJ ligation step, and XRCC4 enhances LIG4's joining activity. The binding of the LIG4-XRCC4 complex to DNA ends depends on the assembly of the DNA-dependent protein kinase complex DNA-PK at these ends. Additionally, LIG4 regulates the nuclear localization of XRCC4.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
