Description

beta-Dystroglycan Antibody (YA2751) is a Rabbit-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to beta-Dystroglycan.

Background

beta Dystroglycan is a transmembrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in linking the extracellular matrix to the cytoskeleton. It functions as a cell adhesion receptor in both muscle and non-muscle tissues, participating in processes such as laminin and basement membrane assembly, sarcolemmal stability, cell survival, peripheral nerve myelination, nodal structure, cell migration, and epithelial polarization. As a receptor for extracellular matrix proteins containing laminin-G domains, it binds to laminin-2 (LAMA2) and agrin in Schwann cells (by similar). It also interacts with DMD and UTRN to scaffold axin to the cytoskeleton and is involved in cell adhesion-mediated signaling and cell polarity. In microbial infections, beta Dystroglycan serves as a receptor for lassa virus, lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus glycoprotein, and class C new-world arenaviruses, as well as a Schwann cell receptor for Mycobacterium leprae (requiring the G-domain of LAMA2).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
