Trifenagrel is an orally active platelet aggregation inhibitor that inhibits the inducing effects of arachidonic acid (AA) and collagen. The ED50s of trifenagrel for inhibiting AA- and collagen-induced platelet aggregation in guinea pigs were 1.4 mg/kg and 9.4 mg/kg, respectively.

Description

Trifenagrel is an orally active platelet aggregation inhibitor that inhibits the inducing effects of arachidonic acid (AA) and collagen. The ED50s of trifenagrel for inhibiting AA- and collagen-induced platelet aggregation in guinea pigs were 1.4 mg/kg and 9.4 mg/kg, respectively[1].

In Vivo

When Trifenagrel is administered p.o. to guinea pigs, there is a sustained (greater than 3 hr) inhibition of AA- and collagen-induced platelet aggregation ex vivo (1 hr ED50 = 1.4 and 9.4 mg/kg, respectively)[1].
Trifenagrel appears to be a reversible inhibition of platelet AA cyclooxygenase. Doses of Trifenagrel up to 100 mg/kg p.o. in rats and guinea pigs inhibited gastric mucosal AA cyclooxygenase but does not produce the gastric damage[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
