Description

T-91825 (PPI-0903M), an N-phosphono-type cephalosporin, is the active form of TAK-599. T-91825 is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria[1][2].

In Vitro

PPI-0903M is very active against S. aureus (MIC50=0.25 μg/mL), including methicillin-resistant (MRSA) strains (MIC50=1 μg/mL)[1].
PPI-0903M is active against hetero-vancomycin-intermediate S. aureus (100 strains), with MIC50s ranging from 0.25 to 4 μg/mL[1].

In Vivo

AK-599 (20 mg/kg; s.c. three times a day for 2 days) decreases the bacterial cell counts in lungs more than 99.9% in a mouse pneumonia model caused by MRSA[2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
