Handling Instructions Technical Support

Pyridine-3-sulfonic acid (Pyridine-3-sulphonic acid) is an orally active structural analog of Nicotine acid (HY-B0143). Pyridine-3-sulfonic acid significantly reduces hepatic cholesterol synthesis in rats but lacks cholesterol-lowering activity. Pyridine-3-sulfonic acid does not interfere with the metabolism of Nicotine acid.

Description

Pyridine-3-sulfonic acid (Pyridine-3-sulphonic acid) is an orally active structural analog of Nicotine acid (HY-B0143). Pyridine-3-sulfonic acid significantly reduces hepatic cholesterol synthesis in rats but lacks cholesterol-lowering activity. Pyridine-3-sulfonic acid does not interfere with the metabolism of Nicotine acid[1][2].

In Vivo

Pyridine-3-sulfonic acid (1%, 1 g/100 g daily diet, p.o. with food, for 21 days) significantly reduces liver cholesterol synthesis in rats[1].
Pyridine-3-sulfonic acid (0.5-2 g, p.o. with food) does not interfere with the binding or metabolism of nicotinamide to coenzyme I/II in normal dogs or dogs deficient in Niacin[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Normal diet and high cholesterol diet model established in male Wistar rats (150-160 g)[1]
Dosage: 1%, 1 g/100 g daily diet
Administration: Oral administration (p.o.) with food, for 21 days
Result: Did not significantly alter serum cholesterol levels in the normal diet group.
Did not show cholesterol-lowering activity in the high-cholesterol diet group.
Significantly reduced liver cholesterol synthesis.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
