Kasugamycin (Ksg) hydrochloride hydrate is an antibiotic that binds to 30s and 70s ribosomes but not to the 50s subunit, and has anti-infective activity. Kasugamycin hydrochloride hydrate mimics mRNA nucleotides, disrupts tRNA binding and inhibits canonical translation initiation. Kasugamycin hydrochloride hydrate increases the sensitivity of mycobacteria to Rifampicin (HY-B0272) in vitro and in mouse infection models.

Description

Kasugamycin (Ksg) hydrochloride hydrate is an antibiotic that binds to 30s and 70s ribosomes but not to the 50s subunit, and has anti-infective activity. Kasugamycin hydrochloride hydrate mimics mRNA nucleotides, disrupts tRNA binding and inhibits canonical translation initiation. Kasugamycin hydrochloride hydrate increases the sensitivity of mycobacteria to Rifampicin (HY-B0272) in vitro and in mouse infection models[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Kasugamycin (50-250 μg/mL) sulfate decreases mycobacterial mistranslation due to the indirect tRNA aminoacylation pathway[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Kasugamycin (400 mg/kg; i.m.; once daily for 2 weeks) sulfate enhances in vivo killing of M.tuberculosis by Rifampicin (10 mg/kg) in mouse model[3].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
