Humic acid is an important component of organic matter in soil and water, and serves as a plant regulator. Humic acid has multiple reactive activities such as surface adsorption, ion exchange, and complexation. Humic acid can enhance pyrene degradation by Mycobacterium NJS-1. Humic acid can inhibit the activity of superoxide dismutase and scavenge hydroxyl radicals. Humic acid is also toxic to CEM cells.

Description

Humic acid is an important component of organic matter in soil and water, and serves as a plant regulator. Humic acid has multiple reactive activities such as surface adsorption, ion exchange, and complexation. Humic acid can enhance pyrene degradation by Mycobacterium NJS-1. Humic acid can inhibit the activity of superoxide dismutase and scavenge hydroxyl radicals. Humic acid is also toxic to CEM cells[1][2][3][4].

In Vitro

Humic acid (10 mg C/L; 10 days) in unicellular Microcystis aeruginosa cultured under high iron condition can reduce the content of extracellular polysaccharides and the average colony size, inhibiting colony formation[2].
Humic acid (1-100 nM; 72 h) exhibits cytotoxicity against acute T lymphoblastic leukemia CEM cells[3].
Humic acid (0-500 mg/kg) increases root dry weight in Calendula officinalis, chili peppers, and strawberries, and significantly enhances the fruit number and weight of strawberries[4].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
