Handling Instructions Technical Support

Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride is an orally active cobalt coordination compound. Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride restores the activities of liver antioxidant enzymes (SOD, Catalase) and detoxification enzyme GST. Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride restores GSH content and reduces DAG. Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride impairs renal function. Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride exerts anti-carcinogenic effects in Diethylnitrosamine (HY-N7434)-induced hepatocarcinoma.

Description

Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride is an orally active cobalt coordination compound. Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride restores the activities of liver antioxidant enzymes (SOD, Catalase) and detoxification enzyme GST. Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride restores GSH content and reduces DAG. Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride impairs renal function. Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride exerts anti-carcinogenic effects in Diethylnitrosamine (HY-N7434)-induced hepatocarcinoma[1][2][3].

In Vivo

Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride (5-20 mg/kg; i.p.; once daily; 3 consecutive days) accumulates maximally in the kidney of Balb/c mice, causes higher toxicity in the kidney than in the liver via inducing oxidative stress, and impairs kidney function in a dose-dependent manner[1].
Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride (100 ppm; p.o. via drinking water; 14 weeks) exerts anticarcinogenic effects against Diethylnitrosamine (HY-N7434)-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in BALB/c mice[2].
Hexaamminecobalt (III) chloride (10-20 mg/kg body weight; i.p.; 3 consecutive days) reduces cell viability of preneoplastic liver lesions in mice[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Male albino BALB/c mice (average body weight 20-25 g,); DENA-induced hepatocarcinogenesis model[2]
Dosage: 100 ppm in drinking water
Administration: Oral administration via drinking water, 14 weeks
Result: Showed significant recovery in body weight gain.
Significantly reduced the relative liver weight.
Reversed the abnormal activities of serum and liver tumor marker enzymes (GGT, LDH).
Reduced lipid peroxidation (decreased MDA levels) and restored the levels/activities of antioxidant parameters (GSH, SOD, CAT) and detoxifying enzyme GST in the liver.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
