Description

Epanorin is a secondary metabolite of the Acarospora lichenic species Epanorin can inhibit cancer cells proliferation, ROS production and induce G0/G1 phase arrest. Epanorin shows antibacterial activity. Epanorin can be used for the researches of cancer and infection, such as breast cancer and S. pneumonia infection[1][2].

In Vitro

Epanorin shows potent inhibitory activity against breast cancer cell line (up to 80%) and moderate inhibitory activity for meningioma (up to 40%)[1].
Epanorin (28 μM) reduces cell colonies in MCF-7 cells[1].
Epanorin (28 μM, 48 h) reduces ROS production in Doxorubicin (HY-15142A)-induced MCF-7 cells[1].
Epanorin (28 μM, 48 h) induces G0/G1 phase arrest in MCF-7 cells[1].
Epanorin (28 μM, 12 h) does not induce detectable DNA fragmentation in MCF-7 cells[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
