Description

Dihydrostreptomycin (DHSM) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with antibacterial effect against Gram-negative bacteria. Dihydrostreptomycin exhibits ototoxicity that causes irreversible damage in inner ear hair cells, leading to hearing loss[1].

In Vitro

Dihydrostreptomycin blocks mechanoelectric transduction channels, induces increased intracellular calcium concentrations, and leads to the obstruction of auditory signal transmission[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Dihydrostreptomycin (600 mg/kg, ip, once daily for 12 days) induces spiral ligament damage in mice, promotes the proliferation of spiral ligament cells in the mouse cochlea, and the expression of FGF receptors and connexin 43 in the spiral ligament[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Mouse models[2]
Dosage: 600 mg/kg
Administration: ip, once daily for 12 days
Result: Upregulated the expression of FGF receptors and connexin 43, increased the number of BrdU-positive cells in the spiral ligament.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
