Description

Cefquinome is a broad-spectrum cephem antibiotic that has inhibitory effects on a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Staphylococci, Streptococci, Pseudomonas, and Enterobacteriaceae[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Cefquinome binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thereby inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls[3].
Cefquinome inhibits methicillin susceptible S. aureus, Streptococcus spp., Enterococci, E. coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., S. marcescens, Enterobacter spp., Citrobacter spp., P. mirabilis, Indole-positive Proteus spp., P. aeruginosa with MICs of 0.006-6.25 μg/mL[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Cefquinome (12.5 mg/kg, tail vein injection, single dose) exhibits anti-infectious activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae in rats pneumonia model[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: K. pneumoniae-infected rats models[2]
Dosage: 12.5 mg/kg
Administration: tail vein injection, single dose
Result: Reduced lung inflammatory cell infiltration and lung tissue damage.
Inhibited the expression of inflammatory factors TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-8, promoted the expression of anti-inflammatory factors IL-4, IL-10 and IL-13.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
