Description

Aβ42 agonist-1 is a compound that can promote Aβ42 aggregation. Aβ42 agonist-1 can interact with Aβ42 oligomers and pentamers to promote nontoxic aggregate self-assembly and rapid fibril formation. Aβ42 agonist-1 prevents Aβ42-induced cytotoxicity in HT22 hippocampal neuronal cells[1].

IC50 & Target

Aβ42 aggregation[1]

In Vitro

In the in vitro aggregation kinetic assays, Aβ42 agonist-1 (compound 7a) is able to demonstrate rapid increases in Aβ42 fibrillogenesis ranging from 1.5- to 4.7-fold when tested at 1, 5, 10, and 25 μM compared to Aβ42-alone control[1].
Aβ42 agonist-1 is not toxic to HT22 hippocampal neuronal cells and strikingly is able to prevent Aβ42-induced cytotoxicity in HT22 hippocampal neuronal cells (cell viability ∼74%) compared to the Aβ42-treated group (cell viability ∼20%)[1].
Aβ42 agonist-1 is able to alter the self-assembly and misfolding pathways of Aβ42 by promoting the formation of nontoxic aggregates[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
