  3. Asperflavin

Asperflavin is an anti-inflammatory compound that can be produced by the marine fungus Eurotium amstelodami. Asperflavin inhibits the production of NO, PGE2, and proinflammatory cytokines, as well as the expression of inducible NOS (iNOS) in RAW 264.7 cells treated with LPS (HY-D1056). Asperflavin can be used in the study of inflammatory diseases.

In Vitro

Asperflavin (0- 200 μM, 24 h) does not alter cell viability of LPS-treated RAW 264.7 cells[1].

Asperflavin (0-200 μM, 24 h) inhibits the production of NO and PGE2 in LPS-treated RAW 264.7 cells[1].

Asperflavin (0-200 μM, 24 h) inhibits the expression of iNOS in LPS-treated RAW 264.7 cells, but does not reduce the expression of COX-2[1].

Asperflavin (0-200 μM, 24 h) reduces the expression of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 in LPS-treated RAW 264.7 cells[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Western Blot Analysis[1]

Cell Line: LPS-Stimulated (1 μg/mL) RAW 264.7 cells
Concentration: 50 μM, 100 μM, 200 μM
Incubation Time: 24 h
Result: Inhibited the expression of iNOS but did not reduce the expression of COX-2.

ELISA Assay[1]

Cell Line: LPS-Stimulated (1 μg/mL) RAW 264.7 cells
Concentration: 50 μM, 100 μM, 200 μM
Incubation Time: 24 h
Result: Reduced the production of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 at a concentration of 200 μM.
Reduced TNF-α, IL-6 levels without changing IL-1β levels at concentrations of 100 μM.
Reduced the production of TNF-α, did not change IL-1β, IL-6 production at a concentration of 50 μM.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
