Description

ZIP9 Antibody (YA5479) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to ZIP9. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P assays, in the background of human, mouse, rat.

Background

ZIP9 is a transmembrane transporter protein primarily responsible for transporting zinc ions across cell and organelle membranes into the cytoplasm and regulating intracellular zinc homeostasis. It participates in the efflux of zinc ions from secretory compartments and enhances AKT1 and MAPK3/MAPK1 (Erk1/2) phosphorylation in response to BCR activation by modulating intracellular zinc levels. Additionally, ZIP9 functions as a membrane androgen receptor, mediating a non-classical androgen signaling pathway via a G protein, which activates MAPK3/MAPK1 (Erk1/2) and transcription factors CREB1 or ATF1 (by similar), thereby promoting CLDN1 and CLDN5 expression and tight junction formation between adjacent Sertoli cells (by similar). ZIP9 also mediates androgen-induced vascular endothelial cell proliferation by activating an inhibitory G protein (Gi), leading to AKT1 and MAPK3/MAPK1 (Erk1/2) activation, which in turn modulates GSK3B phosphorylation and CCND1 transcriptional inhibition. Furthermore, ZIP9 has dual roles as a membrane-bound androgen receptor and an androgen-dependent zinc transporter, both mediated through an inhibitory G protein (Gi) that orchestrates MAP kinase and zinc signaling, ultimately driving androgen-dependent apoptosis.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
