Description

VP2 Antibody (YA4617) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to VP2. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P, ICC/IF, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

VP2 is the core component protein of the viral capsid. Together with VP1, it self-assembles to form an icosahedral capsid with T=1 symmetry, with a diameter of about 22 nanometers. The entire capsid is composed of 60 copies of VP1 and VP2. The main difference between the two is that there is an extended region at the N-terminus of VP1, while VP2 does not have this structure, but this does not affect its collaboration with VP1 to build a stable capsid structure. As an important component of the capsid, VP2 participates in encapsulating the single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) of the viral genome to provide protection for genetic material. At the same time, it and VP1 share the key function of identifying host cells. By binding to the host cell surface receptor TFRC, it mainly induces viral particles to enter the host cell through clathrin endocytosis. During the virus invasion process, VP2 maintains the structural stability of the capsid and cooperates with the capsid rearrangement caused by host receptor binding, indirectly prompting the exposure of the phospholipase A2-like region and nuclear localization signal at the N-terminus of VP1 - the former may act as a lipolytic enzyme to help the virus break through the endosomal membrane, and the latter creates conditions for the capsid to enter the cell nucleus (inferred by similarity). In addition, VP2 is also involved in the transport process of the virus in the cytoplasm. Through interaction with the host motor protein, it relies on microtubules to achieve directional movement, laying the foundation for the subsequent replication cycle of the virus.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
