TIP60 also acetylates non-histone proteins like ATM, TP53/p53, and others, participating in nucleotide excision repair (NER), autophagy regulation, lipid metabolism, and antiviral responses. It can utilize different acyl-CoA substrates (e.g., crotonyl-CoA, lactyl-CoA) to mediate protein crotonylation, lactylation, and other modifications.
