Description

TGF β Receptor II Antibody (YA5661) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 monoclonal antibody, targeting to TGF-β Receptor II. It can be applicated for IHC-P, WB, ICC/IF, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

TGF β Receptor II (TGFBR2) is a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase that forms a non-promiscuous receptor complex with TGF-beta type I receptor (TGFBR1) to specifically bind cytokines TGFB1, TGFB2, and TGFB3. It transduces signals from these cytokines into the cell, regulating diverse physiological and pathological processes such as cell cycle arrest in epithelial/hematopoietic cells, mesenchymal cell proliferation/differentiation, wound healing, extracellular matrix production, immunosuppression, and carcinogenesis. The receptor complex consists of 2 TGFBR1 and 2 TGFBR2 molecules symmetrically bound to the cytokine dimer, where constitutively active TGFBR2 phosphorylates and activates TGFBR1. Activated TGFBR1 then phosphorylates SMAD2, which dissociates from the receptor, binds SMAD4, and translocates to the nucleus to modulate TGF-beta-responsive gene transcription (canonical SMAD-dependent pathway). TGFBR2 also participates in non-canonical SMAD-independent signaling, exhibits TGF-beta-activated receptor activity, and binds TGFB1/2/3 with picomolar affinity without auxiliary receptors while blocking TGFB1-mediated SMAD2/3 activation.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
